Connect Codex
On first launch, choose Connect Codex. ContextBar will open the two required folders one at a time.
Grant read-only access
Confirm the .codex folder, then the com.openai.codex logs folder. macOS stores read-only access for later launches.
Open a Codex task
Bring a Codex desktop task to the front. ContextBar automatically follows the most recently focused Codex main window.

Read the menu at a glance
What do “C3” and “80%” mean?
C3 means the active task has been compacted three times. 80% means the latest valid input context uses 80% of the model context window.
Why does ContextBar say “Waiting for data”?
A new task may not have produced a valid context reading yet. ContextBar also clears the old percentage after a compaction and waits for the next valid reading, rather than showing stale data.
Why is there no icon in the Dock?
The Dock is the app launcher usually shown along an edge of the Mac screen. ContextBar lives in the menu bar by design, so it does not take up a Dock position.
The menu is showing the wrong task. What should I do?
Bring the intended Codex desktop task to the front, then choose Detect Now in ContextBar. Background task updates should not replace the task currently in view.
How do I replace or restore folder access?
Open the ContextBar menu and choose Change Codex Data Access…. Complete both folder selections. If either selection is cancelled, ContextBar keeps the previous pair of permissions.
Does ContextBar support Codex CLI or other agents?
Version 1.0 supports the Codex desktop app on macOS. Pure Codex CLI sessions, Claude Code, and other terminal agents are not supported yet. Support for more agent data sources is planned for future updates—stay tuned.

常见问题
一眼读懂菜单状态
“C3”和“80%”分别是什么意思？
C3 表示当前任务累计压缩了三次；80% 表示最近一次有效输入上下文占模型上下文窗口的 80%。
为什么显示“上下文占用：等待统计”？
新任务可能还没有产生有效的上下文统计。发生压缩后，ContextBar 也会清除旧百分比，等待下一条有效统计，而不是继续展示过期数据。
为什么程序坞（Dock）里没有图标？
程序坞（Dock）是 Mac 屏幕边缘常见的应用图标栏。ContextBar 按设计只驻留在菜单栏，因此不会占用程序坞位置。
菜单显示的不是我正在看的任务，怎么办？
先把目标 Codex 桌面任务切到前台，再在 ContextBar 菜单中选择重新检测。后台任务的数据更新不应抢占当前任务。
如何重新选择或恢复目录授权？
打开 ContextBar 菜单，选择重新授权 Codex 数据…，并完成两个文件夹的选择。如果中途取消任意一步，ContextBar 会继续使用原来的成组授权。
支持 Codex CLI 或其他 Agent 吗？
1.0 版本支持 macOS 上的 Codex 桌面 App，暂不支持纯 Codex CLI、Claude Code 和其他终端 Agent。后续将逐步增加对更多 Agent 数据源的支持，敬请期待。
