ContextBar is a macOS menu bar utility developed by Noisepoint. It displays context usage and cumulative compactions for the active Codex task.
Data processed
With read-only folder access granted by the user, ContextBar processes the following local Codex data:
- task and thread identifiers;
- the local task-title index;
- token and context-window statistics;
- context-compaction events;
- desktop focus state;
- local session modification times.
ContextBar does not parse, store, or display the contents of user messages, model responses, or tool output. It does not access Codex authentication files.
Data collection and sharing
ContextBar does not collect, transmit, sell, or share personal data. The current version contains no analytics, advertising, account system, or network requests. Processing occurs on the user's Mac.
File access
The Mac App Store version uses Apple's App Sandbox. The user explicitly selects the local Codex data and log folders. ContextBar stores security-scoped bookmarks supplied by macOS so it can restore read-only access on later launches. It does not modify Codex files.
Users can use the app's data-access menu to replace the selected folders. The saved bookmarks remain local to the app's sandbox container.
Data retention
ContextBar keeps parsed values only in memory while running. It saves only language preference and the system-generated folder-access bookmarks. It does not create a database of Codex activity or conversation content.
Children
ContextBar is a developer utility and is not directed to children.
Changes
If a future version adds network features, analytics, accounts, or additional data processing, this policy and the App Store privacy disclosure will be updated before release.
